Coalition for Common Ground

The Coalition for Common Ground was formed around 2012 in the aftermath of the Sandy Hook Elementary School mass shooting as an organization focused on educating people about the severity of gun violence in the United States, and ways to address that violence. The organization is a membership organization which invites individuals and organizations committed to working on reducing gun violence through legislative and educational action locally, in the state and in the nation. CCG is affiliated with the Michigan Coalition to Prevent Gun Violence which is a statewide organization. Through this organization we are also affiliated with States United to Prevent Gun Violence. Our coalition meets the 4th Monday of the month (except December) at the First Presbyterian Church of Kalamazoo, Michigan. We hold public programs with speakers, films, book discussions. We present programs in partnership with MOMS Demand Action Kalamazoo on issues such as Domestic Violence and Guns; Keeping children and families safe if guns are present in the home; and legislative actions and advocacy days in Lansing.
